People who suffer from low self-esteem are unable to value themselves properly. They will often compare themselves with others and consider themselves less valuable, less capable, less good looking or less worthy. People with low self-esteem can often be perceived as needy as they need constant reassurance from others that they are doing the right thing, or that they look good etc.
People who lack self confidence, who are unable to assert themselves and who have low self-esteem and think and feel badly about themselves are often held back by their own doubts, fears and insecurities. They may often be skilled and talented at what they do and yet never seem to achieve any level of success, either in their career or personal life. Even if they do they find it hard to relax and enjoy life.
