Air travel is now so common that an estimated 20% to 40% of the population experience fear while flying.

A phobia is an irrational fear, the mind and body reacting to something as if there is an actual potential for physical harm. No one is born with a fear of flying it is a learned response that once experienced continues as a habit. Fear of flying is simply the unconscious mind warning against the dangers of flight, despite statistics that rate flying as being twenty five times safer than travelling by car, and even safer than crossing the road! Despite this aviophobia continue to remain an irrational fear. “If God had meant us to fly, he would have given us wings” seems to be an adage that still holds true for the subconscious part of many people’s brains.
